Patent Engineer

Neil is a Patent Engineer who works with the firm’s attorneys to draft and prosecute patent applications. With meticulous research skill and acute attention to detail in everything he does, Neil is innately curious and committed to understanding client products and services, as well as the underlying commercial drivers inherent in patents. His diverse technological experience ranges from audio signal processing, optics and finance, to audio, advertising technology and software.

Prior to joining the law firm environment, Neil worked for a variety of innovative companies. He served as a Pre-Sales Engineer for UniKey Technologies, an Applications Engineer Intern for KLA-Tencor, an Electrical Engineer for Sabre Systems, Inc., and an SCEP Intern for the United States Department of Defense. His in-house experience ranged from analyzing strategic fit for proposed products, to testing laser scanning equipment, to obtaining security clearance and successfully leading a team of professionals to test a software platform for various military branches. Neil’s hands-on business perspective help him to better understand what clients need, particularly from an operational perspective.

Neil holds a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, where he concentrated his studies in digital signal processing. While at Stanford, Neil explored noise cancelling techniques and discovered novel approaches to cancelling noise between a speaker and microphone for a proposed art installation. Neil also earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical & Computer Engineering, with a double major in Economics, from Rutgers University. He is proficient in myriad programming languages such as C++. Python, Ruby on Rails and HTML/CSS, and a variety of software programs including MATLAB, LaTeX, Microsoft Office, Git, PSpice and Visual Studio.
