Deborah is a Patent Agent who joined HBW in 2014. Deborah prepares and prosecutes patent applications involving a variety of complex technologies, including distributed systems, networking, databases, software engineering, operating systems, and computer/web programming, among others. She has been registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office since 2008.

Prior to becoming a Patent Agent, Deborah worked for 26 years as a Software Engineer and Software Architect for Hewlett-Packard Company in Palo Alto. With a specialty in distributed systems, Deborah has worked on projects that range from quality assurance for the HP3000 computer, to serving as a company-wide software metrics coordinator, research engineer and inventor at HP Laboratories, to wor king as a system architect for automating service solutions for the data center. Because of her decades of experience working in-house at Hewlett-Packard, Deborah knows first-hand, from a practical perspective, the challenges her clients face when developing ground-breaking technologies and then taking them to market.

Deborah has worked with inventors and business professionals alike. Deborah's clients and colleagues appreciate her absolute commitment to being responsive and meeting deadlines, as well as her dedication to diligence and high level of organization. She is valued for her practical perspective when navigating beyond obstacles and solving the problems her clients regularly encounter.

Over the course of her career, Deborah has been involved in executing hundreds of patent applications. Deborah's background in computer science and engineering help her to maintain a "macro" view when it comes to designing lasting patents. She is both creative and thoughtful when analyzing her clients "bigger picture" goals in order to prepare and prosecute patent applications that are both well-designed and as broadly written as possible.

Deborah received her B.A. in Computer Science/Math from Dartmouth College, Magna Cum Laude. She received her M.S.C.S. from Stanford University.
